GREENWICH — A man in his late 30s died after he was hit by a train on the tracks near the Cos Cob station Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday morning.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police identified the deceased person as Michael Haden Crouse, 38, of Newington.
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man was struck by a train near the Mianus River bridge, the MTA said. Authorities said there did not appear to any criminal activity associated with the fatality, and it did not appear to be accidental.
The medical examiner was on the scene at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday to complete the investigation, the MTA said.
The incident caused delays of upward of 50 minutes for some trains as police investigated, the MTA said.
A train went to the area to get passengers off the affected train, according to the MTA.
Some trains were not stopping at the stations in Old Greenwich, Riverside or Cos Cob during the investigation, the MTA said. These trains resumed these stops as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to MTA.
